Drugs, weapons seized as OPP raid marijuana grow-op in City of Kawartha Lakes, northwest of Peterborough

The OPP raided a marijuana farm on Simcoe St. in the north part of the City of Kawartha Lakes Wednesday, seizing $2.5 million in drugs, vehicles and weapons.

Officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment were joined by the OPP organized crime enforcement bureau and an emergency response team to search the rural property.

Eleven people were charged and police seized 2,000 marijuana plants, more than 80 pounds of processed marijuana bud, three motor vehicles, two all-terrain vehicles, two shotguns and a rifle.

Charged with production of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of a schedule II controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking are Jia Wei Cao, 26, Markham, Weibiao Liang, 32, Beaverton, Ruijian Liu, 30, Markham, Jin Biao Luo, 30, Aurora, Junsong Luo, 20, Scarborough, Shu Yan Luo, 46, Markham, Xin Ling Luo, 29, Stouffville, Yan Jun Luo, 31, Scarborough, Yan Ming, Luo, 37, Markham, Hai Quan Zhang, 38, Markham and Boqiang Zhou, 29, Toronto.

They are schedule to appear in Lindsay court Nov. 2.
