1st Annual Fresh Fry

On Sunday September 23 at 3:00 Northumberland Roller Girls will be hosting an Exhibition Bout at the Caroline Street rink in Port Hope. It will be a show case of Fresh Meat. Fresh Meat is the newest skaters, skaters who have never been in a bout before. They have been waiting for a chance to show off what they can do. We have invited Fresh Meat from other leagues as well. Watch for skaters from Durham Region Roller Derby, Peterborough Roller Derby, Lindsay Roller Derby, Area 705 Roller Girls and Kingston Derby Girls.

Northumberland Roller Girls has been a roller derby league since April 2012. We have had the most incredible support from our community and dedication from our skaters and volunteers. We are now up to a full roster and ready to show our appreciation by putting on a show for the community.

It will be entertainment you don't want to miss. While it is entertaining nothing about roller derby is staged. It can be serious, but it is always fun. You will see body checks, hip checks, fast skating, etc. It's all real. We will be playing the Women's Flat Track Derby Association rules, as most flat track leagues do. For more information bout the set of rules we'll be playing, visit WFDTA's website.

As this bout is as much for the skaters as the community, there is no fee. We will have t-shirts for sale and donations are always welcome. We recommend that you arrive by 2:30 to watch the warm-up and get the best seats before the whistl blows at 3PM. We also recommend that you bring your own lawn chair or padded mat for sitting.

For the safety of the skaters, and spectators, this event will not happen if it rains. We have set the rain date for Sunday October 14 at 3PM.

Thank you for your support.

Northumberland Roller Girls.
