PETERBOROUGH — A 16-year-old boy has been found guilty of first degree murder in the death of his mother.

The trial began Nov. 4. The Crown called more than 30 witnesses to the stand.

The boy, testified in his own defence, telling the court that his uncle was responsible for the crime and threatened to either kill him or blame him for the murder if he didn't cooperate.

The mother was last seen May 27, 2008 at her Warkworth home. Her body was found buried in a shallow grave in her backyard 16 days later.

The boy was defended by Toronto-based lawyer Howard Goldkind. Crown attorneys Dave Thompson and Nancy Rae prosecuted the case.
