Brighton woman’s death deemed a homicide

BRIGHTON – The Wednesday death of a 38-year-old Brighton woman has been deemed a homicide.

Around 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, Northumberland OPP were dispatched to a residence on Raglan St.

Upon arrival, a 38-year-old female, now identified as Marie France Comeau of Brighton, was discovered dead. Comeau was a corporal in the Canadian Forces. She served as a flight attendant at 437 (Transport) Squadron our of CFB Trenton. She had been with the military for 12 years and based at Trenton for the past six months.

A post mortem examination was conducted at the Office of the Chief Coroner in Toronto Nov. 26. As a result , the death has now been ruled a homicide.

No further details on the cause of death will be released at this time in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation as it moves forward, OPP said Friday afternoon, Nov. 27.

The investigation being conducted by members of the Northumberland OPP under the direction of Acting Detective Inspector Paul McCrickard of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch is continuing.

Police investigators are advising area residents that there are presently no public safety issues.

Police are requesting the assistance of the public and are asking that anyone who might have information to contact Northumberland OPP at 613-475-1313 in Brighton or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
