Northumberland OPP are investigating the suspicious death of a woman found in her Brighton home Wednesday afternoon.
Dead is Cpl. Marie-France Comeau, 37, a flight attendant at 437 (Transport) Squadron, Trenton.
The military offers their condolences to Comeau's family and friends, said 8 Wing/CFB Trenton Public Affairs Officer Capt. Mark Peebles.
"Marie will be missed by comrades at 437 Squadron," he said Thursday afternoon.
Comeau had been at 437 Squadron for six months and in the military for 12 years.
The military was notified of the death late Wednesday evening.
Ontario Provincial Police said the woman's body was discovered at 12:58 p. m. after emergency services were dispatched to 252 Raglan St. in Brighton.
Neighbours confirmed Comeau lived at the home and was a corporal in the military and a flight attendant.
Police tape surrounded the home and neighbours said the two vehicles in the driveway belonged to the woman who lived at the residence and her boyfriend.
Terry Alexander and his wife, Mary, live across the road said Comeau's car was gone Wednesday morning, but his wife noticed the woman arrive back over the lunch hour.
A short time later Alexander walked out of his home to greet a service man when Comeau's boyfriend, who is also in the military, came running on the road, yelling, "She's dead inside the house."
"He says, 'Did you notice any strange cars here?'" Alexander said. "I said, No, I didn't see any strange cars.'"
The man told the Alexanders he'd called 9-1-1 before leaving the home.
Neighbour Jocelyn Kieffer lives to the west of the home where the body was found. She said police escorted a man from the scene believed to be the woman's boyfriend. Kieffer said the man was not wearing handcuffs when he left the scene in a police vehicle.
Kieffer said the woman previously lived with a man one street north before moving to Raglan St. after they separated.
Neighbours said the subdivision is only a few years old and Comeau lived in the Raglan St. house for about a year.
"She'd stick to herself," Alexander said.
"I noticed her -- seeing her once in awhile in her uniform."
The Alexanders said while the official cause of death hasn't been confirmed, they're shocked to think foul play may be involved.
"We tried to get away from all of this coming (moving) down here from Toronto and yet it happened right in our backyard," Alexander said.
The investigation is being conducted by Northumberland OPP members under the direction of Acting Det. Insp. Paul McCrickard of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
More information will be released pending notification of next of kin.
A post-mortem was tentatively scheduled for Thursday at the chief coroner's office in Toronto.
