The OPP crime unit and Ontario Fire Marshal's Office are investigating a house fire that occurred on Little Lake Road in Brighton shortly before 6 a. m. Wednesday.

"A body (was) found on the property," OPP Det. Const. Jim Thistlethwaite told Northumberland Today, adding foul play is not suspected.

A post-mortem was to be conducted today.

A neighbour reported the fire, Deputy Fire Chief Harry Tackaberry said.

Although it has not been deemed suspicious, Tackaberry said, the Fire Marshal

has been called in to determine the cause of the blaze and the amount of damage, as per a request by the Northumberland OPP.
