NORTHUMBERLAND -- Northumberland County councillors will vote Wednesday to accept the newly appointed Trent Hills mayor to its council.

It is a formality.

After receiving a letter from Trent Hills director of legislative services, J. Douglas Irwin on Nov. 8, that the Municipality of Trent Hills had appointed its Deputy Mayor Bob Crate to fill the vacancy of mayor created with the passing of the late Hector Macmilllan, this week's county council agenda includes a motion to make Crate one of its members.

Each of the seven Northumberland County council mayors make up county council.

It will be one of the first orders of business on the county agenda for Crate to take the declaration of office and swear an oath to execute the office impartially and without any payment while disclosing any direct or indirect pecuniary interest.
