Cobourg winter parking rules in effect

The Town of Cobourg's winter parking bylaw is now in effect, meaning parking on major roads isn't permitted between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.

The rule is in effect to make snow removal easier. It took effect Wednesday and will remain in effect until March 31.

From a town press release: "Parking by-law number 080-2014, Part XIII, Section 34 states The Chief of Police, or his designate, have the sole authority to have any vehicle which is parked on a road or highway within the Corporation, and which is obstructing the removal of snow from the streets, moved and this shall include having the vehicle towed away and impounded."

Parking is permitted on residential streets, but the town may tow vehicles if they interfere with snow removal, the release states.
