Burglaries at Port Hope homes

PORT HOPE - Port Hope police are looking for suspects after a pair of burglaries earlier this month.

Residents of a home on Young Street were away for an hour and a half Oct. 3 and returned to find their home ransacked and their property, including a pickup truck, gone.

Police say the intruder or intruders got in through a basement window and took jewelry, cash, a laptop, medication and a flat-screen TV, as well as a 2013 grey Silverado pickup truck, licence plate AF24666.

A man was seen in the area, and police would like to speak to him.

He was described as a white male, 5'5" to 5'8" in height, about 40, with an average to thin build, short brown hair, a moustache and a blue tattoo on his right calf. He was wearing shorts and a blue T-shirt.

A second break-in happened at a home on Cavan Street, when a ground-floor window was forced open. The owners returned home Sunday and found a laptop, a journal and clothes missing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Port Hope Police at 905-885-8123 or contact Crime Stoppers.
