Westbound lanes of Highway 401 were shut down at Brighton following a tractor-trailer crash Monday.
Around noon on Monday, a westbound tractor-trailer lost control on the highway approximately two kilometers west of Brighton.
The cab struck the guard rails by the median, ejecting the passenger from the cab. The transport continued to jackknife into the ditch of the westbound lanes.
The passenger was taken to Northumberland Hills Hospital and shortly after was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre.
The driver was not injured in the collision.
All westbound lanes will be shut down while members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators examined the scene.
