Catholic board offers clarity on school disruptions 0

NORTHUMBERLAND - 

The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board has provided a list of questions and answers in hopes of addressing public confusion around the status of its schools during the on-going province-wide public school system labour dispute.

Q: Are Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic schools open and running on a normal schedule during the on-going disruptions?

A: Yes, all 37 of the board's schools are open and running on a normal schedule.

Q: Are any of the board's full-day kindergarten or before- and/or after-school programs affected by the disruptions?

A: No, all full day Kindergarten and before and/or after-school programs in Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic schools are running on their normal schedules. Programs continue to be available to new registrations.

Q: Are teachers in board schools participating in any work-to-rule actions?

A: Teachers in Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic secondary schools are not involved in any form of organized job actions.

Q: Are teachers in the board's elementary and/or secondary schools in a legal strike position?

A: No, elementary and secondary teachers in board schools are not in a legal strike position.

Q: Is the province-wide labour disruption of the public school system having an impact on any programs provided by Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic schools?

A: Most programs and extracurricular activities provided by Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic schools are running as normal. Catholic secondary-school staff are continuing to provide tryouts for winter sports teams, exhibition games and tournament play. However, the Kawartha Pine Ridge District and Trillium Lakelands District School Boards' decisions to cancel their winter-sport season until Dec. 31 have impacted our Catholic District School Board secondary school sports.
