Drug bust during traffic stop

On Tuesday, Dec.r 4 at approximately 10:40 p.m., Northumberland OPP were conducting radar on Highway 401 when a vehicle was clocked at 145 km/hour and four male occupants were found to be in possession of a large quantity of drugs.
OPP stopped the grey 2006 Pontiac G6 that was travelling eastbound on the 401 east of County Road 26 for speeding at 145km/hour. There were four male occupants in the vehicle. One male occupant was found to be in possession of marijuana and when requested to turn it over to Police, he crumpled it and swallowed it. He was arrested and subsequently ran into the ditch away from the officer. The male was eventually apprehended. The other three males were also arrested for possession of marijuana and taken into custody.
OPP Canine Unit was requested to attend to the scene to search the area where the man had run for discarded evidence and to search the vehicle. This search resulted in approximately $120,000 estimated street value worth of drugs. One and half kilograms of crack cocaine, powdered cocaine, 16.5 kilograms of cannabis marihuana and $2,280 cash in total were seized by OPP. The drugs were packaged in various quantities and wrappings.
